The ‘“Mama Said”: Women and Energy Poetry Show’ at the Goethe Zentrum in Kampala, Uganda, on 23 September was a great success! The event celebrating women’s rights and the use of clean and affordable energy was organised by the Centre for Endangered Languages, Cultures and Ecosystems (CELCE) in partnership with Lonyo Arts Consortium and the Centre for Research in Energy and Energy Conservation (CREEC). The live event contained an online component to engage the international audience with poems on these related themes, including ‘I Told You So’ by Vivian Holmes, ‘Beloved’ by Baby Klan, and ‘Queens’ by Jordan Megolonyo. The online session also features Flavia Ajambo’s talk about the work that CREEC does on women and energy. The event was covered by UBC television news here.
